VP Internal - Melanie Pabst-Leonidas

Hi,

My name is Melanie Pabst-Leonidas, I am a 22 year old U1 Social Work student and I would like to be the 2014/2015 External Coordinator.

I studied a three-year technical DEC called Special Care Counselling at Vanier College. During my time there, I was active on the college’s committee for anti-bully week, and I also recruited Vanier students to walk and represent our college at the annual Montreal Walks for Mental Health 2 years in a row. This task included acquiring free Vanier College t-shirts to wear and represent the school, as well as making a large banner to hold up during the walk. As part of my program’s curriculum, there were three stages to complete. My final 4-day a week stage took place at St.Mary’s Hospital, where I also recruited many staff and patients from the mental health department to walk and represent the hospital center. Additionally, I also volunteered and tour-guided some open houses of my college. Apart from my academic experiences, I am one of six managers of a residential camp for underprivileged children, and for children under youth protection.

Both of my experiences, academic related and work-related, have further allowed me to practice and enhance my leadership skills. I love being involved with the community and networking. I am passionate about being involved at McGill and also being involved within the SWSA. I feel that I am the best fit for the External Coordinator position because of my strong passion for being involved outside of our department, connecting SWSA to the SSMU and because I want to make my experience at McGill University as enriching as possible! I am dedicated to investing time and committing to the responsibilities associated with this position.
